Stone Town is the main city in Zanzibar and boasts a rich history with unique architecture reflecting a blend of Arab, Persian, Indian, and European influences. The town is renowned for its narrow alleys, bustling markets, and beautiful coral stone buildings. Once the capital of the Zanzibar Sultanate and a key hub for the spice and slave trade, Stone Town is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination. Visitors are drawn to its cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere. Spend the day walking around its narrow streets, learning about the history of this captivating place. You can explore it either with a guide (would recommend) or alone. Price is per person for a guided city tour.
Tip: If you feel tired, you can do the city tour tomorrow morning before heading back to Paje (that’s what I did). The sun is strong, and the weather is humid, so don’t rush things if you feel tired. Listen to your body and take the time to rest when needed.
