Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is an amazing sight in Yosemite National Park. Located at the southern entrance to the park, the grove is comprised of several hundred mature examples of the iconic tree, with two even featured in the 30 largest giant sequoias in the world. The most popular attractions are Grizzly Giant- one of the oldest trees and second largest tree in the grove; Washington Tree- the largest tree in the grove; California Tunnel Tree- the last living giant tunnel tree; and Wawona Tunnel Tree- also known as the Fallen Tunnel Tree. All of these trees provide awe-inspiring glimpses into nature's splendor and make for a fascinating day out in the park.
From the main parking lot, it is a 1.9mi wooded trail to the grove. This trail is NOT dog-friendly. If you plan to bring your pup, there is a service road that leads from the main parking lot, to the grove parking lot, which is dog-friendly. But this does add on 3.8mi to your hike. Alternatively, during warmer seasons, there is a shuttle that runs from the main parking lot to the grove parking lot. This will shorten your hike immensely.
There are a number of trails in Mariposa Grove, with the most popular being Grizzly Giant Loop - this trail is a 2.0mi loop.
