China Cove, located within Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, is one of its most picturesque and enchanting spots. This small, sheltered cove features strikingly clear turquoise waters, a pristine sandy beach, and dramatic rocky cliffs. The vivid colors of the cove make it a favorite destination for photographers and nature lovers alike. The area is often teeming with wildlife—harbor seals frequently rest on the beach or swim in the cove, and seabirds nest along the cliffs. During spring, visitors may even witness seal pups lounging on the sand. While access to the beach itself is restricted to protect the wildlife, visitors can enjoy stunning views of China Cove from the nearby Bird Island Trail, which offers several vantage points to take in the beauty of this hidden gem.

Make sure to check out the South Plateau Trail to Bird Island Trail on our map for how to get to this cove!
