In 1913, Joe Weiss opened up a small lunch counter on Miami Beach. This was before Miami Beach was even a city. Folks stopped in to chat and for a top-notch fish sandwich and fries. For more than 100 years, no visit to Miami has been complete without stopping in at Joe's Stone Crab. Over the years, Joe's has attracted politicians, actors, and athletes, and has been featured in various films and TV shows such as Ian Fleming's novel "Goldfinger" as "Bill's on the Beach" in which James Bond ate the best meal he had ever eaten in his life. If stone crabs are not your thing, try one of the many seafood options, steaks or the award-winning fried chicken, which is a bargain at $8.85 for half a chicken! Lighter fare includes salads, soups - the clam chowder soup is to die for! - and appetizers. Next door to Joe's, the Joe's Take Away is the more casual and charming 80-seat market with a full bar and coffee bar. Joe’s Take Away evolved from a back door in the kitchen for those tasty claws and sides in 1987. The evolution came about due to the public's demand to get Joe’s by avoiding the sometimes long wait and more formal setting. The Take Away menu includes all of Joe’s signature items like stone crabs, hash browns, cole slaw, creamed spinach, grilled tomatoes & key lime pie. It also offers an extensive selection of specialty dishes, such as Lobster Rueben, Fried Chicken, and Lobster Rolls. You will also find a variety of wines and candies, along with yummy desserts. Joe's Take Away is open daily from 11:30AM to 9PM. No reservations needed.
