Many of the hot springs in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, are located in a Resort, where you can either stay or buy a day pass to enter the springs. Usually, those day passes are costly, so if you are traveling on a budget, this is the secret tip you were looking for.
Just a few meters down the road from the famous Tabacon hot springs, you can find an entrance to the River for free. We enjoyed this place equal to the resort as it has a relaxed and natural vibe. Highly recommend going either early morning or later afternoon/evening as there are fewer people, and the temperatures are lower, so a warm bath is the most enjoyable.
