Murlough Beach is a beautiful and expansive sandy beach located near Newcastle in County Down, is situated within Murlough National Nature Reserve, and the beach is part of a wider area of sand dunes and coastal ecosystems.

Murlough is known for its extensive sand dunes, which provide not only a scenic backdrop to the beach but also an important habitat for a variety of plant and animal species. The dunes are part of the wider dune system along Dundrum Bay.

Murlough National Nature Reserve features several walking trails that allow you to explore the diverse habitats. The trails provide opportunities for birdwatching, as Murlough is a haven for various birds. The area is a designated Special Protection Area for birds, and species such as the redshank, oystercatcher, and curlew can be spotted.
