Rea's Wood Nature Reserve is an amazing natural park full of beauty and wildlife. The reserve offers a mile long stretch of shoreline along Lough Neagh, filled with lush alder, willow, and birch trees that provide shade and beauty throughout the entire area.

It is a great example of a wet woodland and has a rich diversity of wildlife to see. Free to visit , this is one of my favourite places to watch the sunset in Northern Ireland!

How to get there?

From the carpark, follow the trail to Rea’s Wood. After 750m into the trail, you will reach the National Nature Reserve. After a further kilometre, the path reaches an iron gate. This is the southern limit of the Nature Reserve and there is no public access beyond this point. To finish this short walk, simply retrace your steps back to the Lough Shore Park.

🌅McClellan Point on the trail is a beautiful spot for photos. There is also now a viewing platform at Rea’s Woods , the perfect spot to soak in nature and watch the sunset! Enjoy!

💚 As with any natural area please follow the principles of Leave No Trace, respecting the environment and wildlife.
