Trostburg Castle, perched high in the clouds above Valle Isarco, is a medieval marvel that will transport you back in time. The hike up to the fortress offers stunning views of Alpine meadows and charming farmsteads, making it a rewarding adventure.
Once inside, you can explore the castle's historic rooms, admire faded frescoes, and marvel at the largest medieval wine press in South Tyrol. Don't forget to grab a pint at the nearby Gassl Bräu brewery for a taste of South Tyrolean tradition too!
👟It is accessible only by foot. The Trostburg Path leads from Ponte Gardena (parking space) along a medieval paved path in a 15-minute walk to the castle. The Burgfrieden Path is less steep but longer (30 minutes).
opening hours : (March- Oct) 11am- 3pm (Tues-Sun) closed on Mondays
📝Castle and museum are accessible only during a guided tour: Tuesday to Sunday at 11 am, 2 pm and 3 pm, in July and August also at noon time and at 4 pm.
