Notre-Dame is a medieval Catholic cathedral located on the Île de la Cité in Paris, France. Built between 1163 and 1345, it is considered a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture with its iconic rose windows, rib vaults, and flying buttresses. The cathedral has undergone various modifications over the centuries, including a major restoration in the 19th century led by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. Despite suffering damage during the French Revolution and a devastating fire in 2019, Notre-Dame remains a symbol of Paris and a popular tourist destination, set to reopen in December 2024 after extensive renovations.
