Sleepy Hollow Cemetery was established in 1849, and is the final resting place of local author Washington Irving, Andrew Carnegie, Elizabeth Arden and other notable Americans. Irving requested the cemetery be renamed to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, which the cemetery honoured after his death.

On the same grounds, you'll find the Old Dutch Church, which is a 17th century church and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
