Pico Ruivo is the highest peak on the Atlantic island of Madeira, Portugal. Located at 1,862 meters, Pico Ruivo stands out in solitary grandeur in its lush and rugged landscape and offers a thrilling challenge to those brave enough to attempt the trek up to its summit. It can be reached only by foot, usually either from Pico do Areeiro after a strenuous hike, or from Achada do Teixeira via a shorter, easier trail. I recommend to start from Achada do Teixeira, since it is easier route and coller views. It will take 10 km up to 3-4 hours to go and come back. Better to start befpre sunrire to catch iconic view of the sun rising above the clouds.
