Ohrid’s Robev Family House is a hidden gem of history and culture that should not be missed. A three-story building originally created by brothers Anastas and Angele, it was decimated by a fire in 1861, to be then rebuilt two years later. It has been a museum of Ohrid for the past 72 years since 1945, when it was declared a cultural and historical monument. The exhibits within include items from the Robev family as well as regional jewelry, filigree, traditional Ohrid garb, silver decorative belts, and the finest carvings by Ohrid masters, all of which can still be found in the house. Visitors to the house are in for an exciting exploration of the past, learning of the influential Robev family in the 19th century and their efforts to promote independent Macedonia.
