Head over to Ez-Zitouna or The Zaytouna Mosque - the oldest and most important mosque in Tunis that stands at the heart of the Medina. Dating back to the 8th century, it is not only a place of worship but also a centre of learning that has shaped Tunisia’s religious and cultural identity for centuries. Its impressive architecture, featuring grand columns, intricate tilework, and a serene courtyard, reflects a blend of Islamic and Andalusian influences. Surrounded by bustling souks, the mosque remains a symbol of the city's rich heritage and spiritual life.

Note: if you are not muslim, you can admire the Mosque's exterior. Muslims are allowed to go in for a small fee.
