One of the Coromandel’s best kept secrets, Pokohino Beach is a destination for the adventurous that want to get off the beaten track. The small cove is surrounded by steep cliffs and is a stunning location on a summer’s day. Relax on the beach, bring your favourite book or enjoy swimming in the crystal clear sea.

Access Pokohino Beach via a forestry track, then walk 20 minutes down a rugged trail to reach the beach. There are fallen trees and the path is not well maintained, so keep this in mind for your visit. Occasionally, the forestry road is closed - if this is the case, you can walk in from Onemana Beach, approx 90 minutes each way.

Remember: Parking is limited, be respectful of other road users.

Personal tip: This is a true hidden gem, it’s likely you’ll have the beach to yourself, particularly out of peak season. It’s definitely an adventure to get here, you must be relatively fit and able - enjoy the journey (and the destination)!!

Pronunciation: Pokohino: por-kor-hee-nor

Onemana: or-neh-maa-naa
