Monfero Abbey, also known as the Monastery of Santa María de Monfero, is a former Cistercian monastery in Galicia, Spain 🏛️. Founded in 1114 by Afonso VII the Emperor 👑, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 17th century after being struck by lightning ⚡. The abbey's church, with its distinctive Baroque facade and Gothic tombs ⛪, still stands today as a landmark in Monfero 🌳. Unfortunately, the government's dissolution of the monasteries in 1835 brought an end to its religious activities 📜.

Opens daily from 10:00-14:00 and 16:00-19:00
