🏰 The Alcazaba of Mérida is a ninth-century Muslim fortress located in Mérida, Spain. Built by emir Abd ar-Rahman II of Córdoba in 835, it was the first Muslim alcazaba in the Iberian peninsula. The fortress features impressive walls with 25 towers, an aljibe for collecting rainwater, and a military area with a gate flanked by two towers. Today, it is part of the UNESCO Heritage List and offers visitors a glimpse into the city's historical past. 🌍
