The Monastery of Yuste, located in Cuacos de Yuste, Spain, is a historic monastery where Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Spain lived after his abdication until his death. Founded in 1402 by the Hieronymite order of monks, it became a retreat for the retired emperor who intended to spend his days in prayer. The monastery was expanded to accommodate Charles V and his entourage, and visitors like his son Don Juan de Austria and heir Philip II of Spain would come to visit. Today, tourists can explore the emperor's apartments and enjoy the picturesque Valle del Jerte surrounding the monastery.
