Hallormsstaður National Forest is Iceland's largest forest, covering an impressive 740 hectares. It's a popular outdoor area with diverse landscapes and offers plenty of activities for nature enthusiasts. You can explore the forest through its 11 marked trails, perfect for hiking and discovering hidden treasures. Don't forget to grab a hiking map at the start of the trails or at Hotel Hallormsstaður. The forest also boasts an arboretum with over 80 tree species, making it a great spot for tree lovers. And if you're lucky enough to visit around summer solstice, you can join in the National Forest Day celebrations, complete with food, fun, and even a Lumberjack National Championship. Plus, there are two camping areas available for those who want to immerse themselves in the beauty of the forest. So, whether you're a hiker, camper, or simply someone who appreciates nature, Hallormsstaður National Forest is definitely worth a visit.
