Mt. Hattfell (924 m) in the southern highlands of Iceland. The landscape in these parts are dominated by dark volcanic sands with sparse vegetation, with green hills and mountains rising from the plain. Not quite sure why the mountains are greener than the plains; the most likely explanation is perhaps that frequent strong winds keep the loose sand moving in the flat plain, giving plants a hard time to settle, while the well-watered slopes escape that fate.
