Bláhylur, also known as Hnausapollur, is a stunning crater lake nestled in the Southern Highlands of Iceland. It got its name from the deep blue color of its water, which creates a striking contrast against the surrounding landscape. This beautiful lake was formed during a volcanic eruption in 871 and is now a popular spot for visitors to admire the pristine beauty of the Icelandic Highlands. You can easily walk down to the lake and even try your luck at fishing for brown trout. So if you're looking for a picturesque and off-the-beaten-track destination, Bláhylur is definitely worth a visit!
