Axlafoss waterfall, also known as Axlarfoss, is a hidden gem tucked away in the central highlands of Iceland. Standing at just 8 meters tall, it may not be the tallest waterfall around, but it sure is beautiful and photogenic. Located under the majestic Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Axlafoss offers breathtaking views from the edge of the canyon. Although you might not be able to get right up to the waterfall, the scenery alone is worth the visit. So if you find yourself near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, make sure to take a detour and discover the beauty of Axlafoss for yourself.
