Litlanesfoss is a stunning waterfall in east Iceland that will blow your mind with its unique geology. It's also known as Basalt Column Falls because it pours over these incredible hexagonal basalt columns, which are super rare and seriously cool. The waterfall itself is about 30 meters tall and can be found along a hiking trail to Hengifoss, the third-tallest waterfall in Iceland. The hike is relatively easy and totally worth it because you'll get to see layers of red clay and ash from ancient volcanic eruptions at Hengifoss. Litlanesfoss is located near the town of Egilsstaðir, on the other side of Lake Lagarfljót where some crazy wyrm-like creatures supposedly live. So, if you're up for an adventure and want to witness some mind-blowing natural wonders, make sure to check out Litlanesfoss!
