The most common question I get is: "Which activities should I book?"

I know how overwhelming it can be, there are so many incredible things to do in Iceland, and you can’t possibly fit them all into one trip.

To make things easier for you, I’ve put together a list of my absolute favorite tours and activities. These are the experiences I keep coming back to, time and time again, because they’re simply that good.

If you can’t do them all, don’t stress, just pick the ones that excite you the most! But I do recommend booking at least one of these to make your trip truly unforgettable.

Snorkeling or Diving in Silfra

Silfra has some of the clearest water in the world, with over 100 meters of visibility. It’s a crack between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, making it a unique place to explore.

The water comes from a glacier and is filtered through lava rock, making it incredibly clear. Snorkeling or diving here feels like flying, you float through still, blue water with an amazing view in every direction.

You can choose to snorkel or dive, but either way, it’s an unforgettable experience.

Katla Ice Caves

Katla Ice Caves are the only ice caves in Iceland that you can visit all year round. If you're traveling in summer and want to see an ice cave, this is your best option.

The caves change every year, but they are usually large and impressive. Unlike other ice caves, Katla’s ice is darker, as volcanic ash from the Katla volcano has mixed with the ice, creating a unique black-and-blue appearance.

It's a one-of-a-kind experience and a great way to explore Iceland’s glaciers in any season.

Kayak - Jökulsárlon Glacier Lagoon

Kayaking among icebergs is one of my all-time favorite experiences in Iceland. There’s something special about gliding through the deep blue water, surrounded by towering ice formations. It’s peaceful, surreal, and unlike anything else.

This is one of the most popular tours in Iceland, and spots sell out fast, so I highly recommend booking early!

Reykjavik Whale Watching
I love wildlife, and whales are my absolute favourite. They are huge, powerful, and truly majestic.

Iceland has some of the best whale-watching waters in the world. The most common sightings are humpback whales, along with dolphins and minke whales. You can see them all year round, but summer is the best time.

I always prefer the small RIB boat tours, they’re faster, more exciting, and let you get closer to these incredible animals. If you want the best experience, I highly recommend booking one!

Mr Iceland - horseback riding tours in Iceland

Riding through Iceland’s vast landscapes on horseback is an amazing experience. Icelandic horses are small, strong, and very gentle, making this a great activity even for beginners.

One of the best places to book a tour is Mr. Iceland. They have some of the best horses in the country and offer rides along scenic rivers or down to the black sand beach. It’s a unique and fun way to see Iceland from a different perspective!

Sky Lagoon

Soaking in a hot lagoon is a big part of Icelandic culture, and I highly recommend experiencing it during your trip. Locals visit geothermal pools all the time, so checking out a public pool is a great way to experience daily life in Iceland.

For the best spa experience, I always go to Sky Lagoon and do their 7-step ritual. It’s the perfect way to relax while enjoying incredible ocean views.

Even More to Explore

These are my favorites, but there’s so much more to do in Iceland! I’ve listed many more amazing spots on my Iceland Map, so feel free to check it out for more inspiration. Happy exploring!
