Árbær Open Air Museum was established in 1957, and offers a great way to learn about the history of Reykjavik and the architecture of its past. It consists of more than 20 buildings that have been relocated from central Reykjavik, where visitors can explore a town square, a village, and a farm. Summertime is especially fun as the museum is populated with domestic animals to interact with! Not to mention the range of exhibitions and events they host throughout the year. From craft days to vintage car displays and even Christmas exhibitions, this open air museum is a good place to stop during a nice day in Reykjavik.
