The Learmonth Rest Area is an absolute oasis when you’ve been kicking around Exmouth for a bit and need a breather. It’s the spot to find some actual trees (a rarity out here!) and just escape the chaos for a moment. We love popping out here to reset – it’s the kind of place where you can light up a little campfire, chill out under the stars, and enjoy the most magical sunrise over the water. Honestly, nothing beats sipping a cuppa as the first rays of light hit the horizon. Pure bliss.

Now, technically, you’re not supposed to sleep here since it’s a rest area, but hey, resting counts too, right? Just be discreet, keep it clean, and remember the golden rule – leave no trace. Out of rangers' jurisdiction but the AFP (police) often come around and move campers on.

It's about 20 mins out of town and is the perfect place to take some time for yourself. The rest area is tucked away from the main road and overlooks the beach on the gulf side.

The best part... it has trees! Such a haven in the desert.
