Stockholm is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do, but getting around can be a bit overwhelming for first-time visitors. The following guide will provide you with all the information you need to navigate Stockholm with ease.

Public Transport:

Stockholm's public transport system is run by a company called SL. They operate buses, underground trains, commuter trains, trams, and certain ferry lines in Greater Stockholm.

• A single ticket is valid for 75 minutes and costs 39 SEK. You can purchase tickets at SL's ticket machines, through their app, or directly at the turnstiles using a credit card. The app is my preferred way to buy tickets, download in the App Store.

• If you plan on using public transport frequently, you can also purchase 24-hour, 72-hour, and 30-day tickets.

• Parents with strollers can ride for free on any of Stockholm's buses.

• It's not possible to pay cash for tickets on buses in Stockholm, and failure to show a valid ticket during a control will result in a penalty fee of 1200 SEK.

Ferries:

Stockholm has a beautiful archipelago and taking a ferry is a great way to see the city from a different perspective. It's also a more scenic and unique way to travel.

• Some ferries are operated by SL where your public transport ticket is valid and they have several routes that connect the city center with the islands.

• Other ferries are operated by private companies like Waxholmsbolaget and you have to buy extra tickets.

The Stockholm Subway as an Art Gallery:

Stockholm's subway is known as the world's longest art gallery as many of its stations are adorned with the works of different artists. The stations have unique styles and artworks, so take the time to explore some of the stations.

Walking:

Stockholm is a very walkable city, and many of its main sights and attractions are located close to each other. Walking is also a great way to explore the city's charming neighborhoods and discover hidden gems. If you plan on doing a lot of walking, be sure to pack comfortable shoes and dress in layers as the weather can be unpredictable.

Stockholm Ebikes:
