Pause Eco-Retreat is a hidden gem nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This unique campground offers a secluded and peaceful experience, with only a few campsites scattered across 160 acres of pristine wilderness.

I put mid-range on this because it's a little spendier than your average campsite but it isn't expensive by any means. The road to get here is a little steep but definitely doable, especially if you have AWD.

We stayed at Lijahs Garden, but I'd recommend booking Lijah's Ridge as the views and parking are better and they are right next to each other. Both Lijah sites have a fire ring and picnic table.

If you're feeling adventurous, definitely check out the Tai Chi Hill campsite. This one has the best views by far but you will 100% need a 4WD vehicle to get here (I walked it) and the road is a little overgrown in places.

This place is super peaceful and cools down well at night, especially during the summer. I visited in mid-June and even though the days were almost at 90, this area got down to about 65 at night.

There are horses on the property which you can shoo away if you don't want them around. I just yell and clap and they'll eventually move for you. The ticks here were pretty active (my friend's dogs' got a ton), but my dog only got one. I'd recommend doing a tick check every day if you bring your furry friend.
