Wayah Bald in North Carolina is a popular spot for a quick and easy hike with stunning views. Even though it's considered a "hike", I would say it's a nice pleasant walk to the lookout.
I visited for sunrise in early June and had the entire spot all to myself. The drive up is long and the last 4 miles is on gravel road so plan appropriately. There were a few potholes, but nothing most cars can't easily navigate.
I wouldn't visit in the winter as I imagine the road might be difficult to traverse, but summer and fall are great times to enjoy this spot. I will definitely be back as the views here blew my mind.
