Valhalla is such a stunning location to base yourself for a peaceful visit to the smokies. This allows for relatively easy access to places like Gatlinburg, but is removed from the crowds and chaos that sometimes accompanies the Great Smoky Mountains. There are a few incredible hikes nearby as well as whitewater rafting and a wonderful local farm called Carver's Restaurant and Apple Orchard. Plus it's not too far from one of my favorite hikes in the smokies, Midnight Hole + Mouse Falls. Can't recommend this stay enough!
