When is the best time to visit? Plan to visit Cedar Creek Falls in the springtime right after a rainfall. This will ensure the waterfall is flowing and the weather is not too hot for hiking.
Hike details? -Located 1 hour away from San Diego -The hike is 6 miles long and rated as moderate. You should plan to spend 3 hours for hiking out and back. Elevation gain is 1,108 ft.
Are permits needed? -Permits are needed and can be found online -Everyday they let 75 groups in and each group can be up to 5 people. -You must bring a printed copy of your permit. -Permits are $6/group
Safety tips! -Do not go in the summer. The heat is insane. -Watch out for snakes. I saw 4 on my hike to the Falls. -Bring a ton of water, like really bring a lot this hike is hard on the way out and hot with no shade.
Are dogs allowed? Yes, dogs are allowed on leash only, but please don't bring them here in the summer as it gets extremely hot.
