Tooth Rock is a popular hiking trail located in Poway, San Diego County, California. The trail is approximately 3.5 miles round trip and is rated as a moderate difficulty level.
The Tooth Rock trailhead is located in the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve and can be accessed from the parking lot at the end of Espola Road. The trail starts off on a wide dirt path that winds through a dense oak grove before gradually ascending the hillside.
As the trail climbs, hikers will enjoy stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. After about a mile, the trail splits, with the left fork leading to the summit of Mount Woodson and the right fork leading to Tooth Rock.
The Tooth Rock trail is steep and rocky in places, with some scrambling required to reach the summit. However, the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views of Poway and the surrounding mountains from the top of the rock.
The hike to Tooth Rock typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your pace and how much time you spend enjoying the views. The trail can be hot and dusty in the summer months, so it's important to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear.
