All ages
I recently had the chance to visit Mælifell, a stunning 791-meter tall volcano located in Iceland. The contrast of its vivid green color against the black sands surrounding it makes for a truly unique and breathtaking landscape. It's surrounded by volcanic landscapes and pristine glacier rivers, adding to its stunning beauty. I was amazed to learn that this volcano was once covered by a glacier, but became exposed after the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 10,000 years ago. It's also noteworthy that Mælifell has been featured in films and TV series, showcasing its captivating beauty to the world. The name "Mælifell" translates to "Measuring Hill" and it's said to have been used as a navigation point by early Icelanders.
