Along the street of the main street of the city is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, the cathedral of Altamura. Born in the Apulian Romanesque style, today, following various modernizations, it is presented in the Baroque style, especially inside where you can see the three naves divided by columns and pillars, and a rich wooden ceiling decorated in gold. Outside, however, there is a valuable portal with two life-size lions as a guard at the entrance. The whole is enriched by two tall bell towers from the 16th century, connected to each other by a balustraded loggia surmounted by a tympanum, which can also be seen from the outside of Altamura itself.
