Piazza Duomo in Brindisi is one of the city's oldest and most evocative piazzas, nestled at the heart of this modern yet historic city. This architectural wonder is full of fascinating sights from its majestic monumental buildings, each with its own unique story and style. Stroll down the Regina Margherita promenade for stunning views of the harbor before making your way to the Virgil staircase to see remnants of two ancient Roman columns - they were built under Emperor Trajan and signify the end of the Via Appia Antica connecting Rome and Brindisi. There's also plenty of history-packed churches to explore including the 13th century Church of San Paolo Eremita and the Romanesque Temple of S. Giovanni Sepolcro. It's the perfect spot for tourists to soak up some culture and bask in the beauty of the Puglian city.

The Cathedral of Brindisi, also called the Cathedral of Brindisi and the Basilica of the Visitation, is a very ancient church. It was in fact consecrated in 1089 and over the years it has suffered various damages with consequent reconstruction. The earthquake of 1743, for example, almost razed it to the ground. Today inside it you can still see fragments of the very first floor as well as mosaics and canvases representing religious figures, furthermore the mortal remains of San Teodoro d'Amasea, patron saint of the city, are kept in the chapel.

The entrance is free and always open.
