You can spot puffins all over Scotland and the Orkneys but this one is my personal favourite spot. It is a tidal island where you can not only explore Pictish, Norse and Medieval remains but also spot wildlife, including puffins!

Photo Tip for this location: If you want to be able to see the puffins you will have to visit this spot in spring or summer. Puffins spends most of their lives at sea and only ever go on coastal islands in the spring and summer during breeding season.

When you arrive to Brough of Birsay you will find the puffins hiding in the rocks on the north side of the island. Do be careful when visiting as they are seen close to the edge of the cliffs!
