Landmannalaugar is a geothermal area located in the highlands of Iceland, known for its stunningly colorful landscape of mountains, valleys, and hot springs. The area is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers, offering a variety of hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult, with views of volcanic peaks, lava fields, and glaciers. Visitors can also soak in natural hot springs, enjoy camping under the stars, and witness the northern lights during the winter months. The area is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles or on foot during the summer months, making it a remote and unique destination in Iceland. If you do not have a 4x4 you can also take the highland bus (only in summer!) from Reykjavik, Hella or Rjúpnavellir. It cost $120 from Reykjavik and $85 from Hella. Or you can book a private tour.
