Whangarei Falls is such a gem on New Zealand's North Island! The waterfall cascades a dramatic 26 meters down these stunning basalt cliffs into a natural pool, giving the whole place a magical vibe. There’s a bit of Maori legend wrapped around it too, which just adds to the charm.
The falls are super accessible with a quick, easy trail, so you’re there in no time. I spotted lots of people walking their dogs, which added an extra touch of cuteness to the day. Unfortunately, swimming isn’t recommended here because of the strong underwater currents, but it’s still an epic spot to chill out and have a picnic at the base.
If you’re up for a bit more exploring, you can do the loop track, which gives you different views of the falls from above and below. It's only about 1 kilometre so its worth adding it to your visit.
