New South Wales was the first state I explored on my lap around Australia, and coming from Queensland, where the climate is hotter and seals aren't a common sight, I was in for a treat. While I was in Narooma, I took a walk around the beach and was thrilled to spot a seal for the first time. I may have gotten a bit too close, which startled the seal into making the loudest noise, definitely, a surprise that made me jump, haha. Later, as I was using Google Maps to head towards Australia Rock, I discovered a place called Seal Rock nearby. To my delight, I saw at least 20 seals lounging, sunbathing, and swimming in the water. It was amazing to see them in their natural habitat, and I was genuinely surprised at how elegant they looked as they swam. As an animal lover, this experience was incredibly special and unforgettable.

However, a key takeaway from my visit is to maintain a respectful distance from the seals. They can be quite vocal and territorial, and I witnessed them fighting and growling at each other, so it’s best not to get too close. Also, they have a distinct smell so viewing them from a distance is definitely the way to go lol. As you walk along the rocks, you'll encounter more seals, but stick to the flat paths and avoid climbing down the rocks to ensure both your safety and theirs.
