Maligne Lake / Spirit Island

Maligne lake is the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies being 22km long. The famous Spirit Island sits along the shoreline about 14km in and is only accessible by boat. It is surrounded by mountain peaks & glaciers & the deep turquoise water of the lake (walking on the island is not permitted). This is the perfect spot for a private and secluded elopement out in nature. Also be prepared to see lots of wildlife here.

How to access Spirit Island:

• Bring your own boat or conveniently rent a canoe or kayak right along the shoreline to paddle the 14km to Spirit Island or just enjoy a paddle around the lake, can also book one of their backcountry campsites to paddle there one day, and have your elopement the next
