Ladysmith is my favourite small town in this area of Vancouver Island. It has a wonderful historic downtown and a great community feel. Highway 19 runs just below the downtown, with the waterfront area on the other side of it.

Stop for some cinnamon buns at the Old Town Bakery and then head to the local hiking trails to see Christie Falls.
