There's lot's of hidden gems around this region. Lot's of lakes, fells and untouched nature if you're willing to explore a bit. Salla's history is marked by its border location and the impact of World War II, with parts of the municipality ceded to the Soviet Union. The area experiences a subarctic climate, with long, cold winters and cool summers. Salla is also known for the Salla Ski Resort and its mayor's quirky bid to host the 2032 Summer Olympics to raise awareness about climate change.
