Lower Reid Falls is a majestic waterfall that will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired. The best time to visit the waterfall is June when the spring melt drains from the mountains; however Lower Reid Falls will not disappoint anytime throughout the summer.

📍 Directions: Lower Reid falls can be accessed right from the heart Skagway by following Alaska St. past the train yard until you reach the Gold Rush Cemetery. The option to drive to the cemetery is also possible. Upon arrival at the cemetery the obvious trail will guide you past the graves of famous prospects from the Gold Rush days including the legendary "Soapy" Smith. Interpretive signs are available to help understand the lives of the many who died during the Gold Rush with hopes of striking rich. To continue to Lower Reid Falls you must carry on through the cemetery, there are small signs with "Reid Falls" on them to help guide the way. Soon the roaring sound of rushing water will take over and you'll be standing at the base of the falls before you know it.

The gully in which the waterfall is located is tight but there is plenty to explore. The mist from the waterfall fills the gully, soaking everything. The rocks near the falls are slippery so please watch your step!
