Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site is a gem nestled at the south end of Chilkoot Lake, boasting lush Sitka spruce surroundings. Includes fire rings, water, toilets, picnic tables, fishing, boat launch. Summer hosts provide information & reference materials at last site, $20/night. Seasonal mid-May to mid-October, main gate closes November 15th. Electronic payment kiosks are now active. This park offers prime salmon fishing opportunities from mid-June to mid-October, attracting bears due to the salmon spawning in the river. Visitors can enjoy camping, boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing in this picturesque spot. Just follow Lutak Road for five miles past the ferry terminal and turn left onto Chilkoot River Road before the bridge to reach this outdoor haven.
