Kathleen Lake is one of the most iconic lakes in Kluane National Park and Reserve because of its towering views of King's Throne. There's tons of different ways you can enjoy the area in both the winter and summer. You can spend as little or as much time as you'd like there and still have a great experience. Here's some ways you can enjoy the area:
📍** Summer:**
go for a walk along the boardwalk and beach to find the hidden Canada Parks red Muskoka chairs
go for a (cold) swim in the lake. There are docks you can jump off.
Kayak, Canoe, or paddle board on the lake (must bring your own)
Bonfire at the lake in the designated fire pits
Enjoy a meal at the picnic tables
Camp at Kathleen Lake Campground
Hike Kings Throne
📍** Winter:**
Snowshoe or cross country ski on the lake once it's frozen. Check in with Kluane National Park and Reserve Visitor Centre in the Dä Kų Centre for updates on the status of the lake, it's normally frozen by mid December
Ice fishing
Warm up in the public use cabin. There is a wood stove you can get going
Bonfire at the lake in the designated fire pits
Walk along the board walk
Northern lights viewing
There can be a lot of mosquitos at certain times in the summer, it doesn't need to ruin your fun but you will have to be a bit tolerant of it.
