Nýifoss, also known as Leynifoss or the Confidential Waterfall, is a relatively new addition to Iceland's natural wonders, formed in 1939 when Lake Hagavatn experienced a dramatic decrease in water levels due to a glacier flood. Situated in a unique sandy and gray landscape, Nýifoss stands out for its harsh environment and lack of vegetation, giving it a desert-like appearance. Accessible via a challenging 4X4 road, this off-the-beaten-path waterfall offers a different kind of Icelandic adventure for those willing to make the journey.
