Segla is one of the stunning mountains you can find on Senja. The hike is considered challenging, but I personally didn’t think it was that bad. Good hiking shoes are important on this hike. The hike starts from Fjordgåd skole. Remember to pay the parking fee before leaving for the hike. The hike is clearly marked with signs to Segla and Barden. This hike begins with a walk through a forest path before the elevation starts. On the top of the first hill, you’ll get a gorgeous view of Mefjorden. Beware of some loose gravel on the last stretch. The view of the northern fjord and mountains come into view when you reach the top. Be careful of getting too close to the edge, it´s a 600-meter drop and there are no fences or other safety measures so keep well back if you are scared of heights.

The trip takes about 3.5 hours one way, even though its only 1.9 km the steep rise will take some extra time to traverse. The highest point is 639 meters above sea level, and there are plenty of photo opportunities!
