Te Rere o Omanawa (Omanawa Falls) is a very special spot in Tauranga, and it’s even more amazing now that they’ve done some safety upgrades to make it more accessible. You’ll find three awesome lookout platforms giving you incredible views of the falls and the lush valley below. The 1.9km return trail takes you through a beautiful forest walk, and the stroll to each lookout is totally worth it for the scenery. Be prepared for a few amount of stairs so I'd suggest bringing a water bottle. And just a heads up, you can’t swim here or get to the base of the falls, as the area is sacred to Ngāti Hangarau, but you can still appreciate the beauty from the top! It’s a peaceful and culturally rich spot, so respect the space and enjoy the vibe. Oh, and along the walk keep an eye out for deer in the fenced farmlands, I saw two cuties that added some magic to the waterfall experience.
