Safety Tip #3:

Medellín has incredible nightlife and you will love to go to the delicious and beautiful restaurants around the city, enjoying a cocktail on a rooftop, or maybe going clubbing if you are into it. Either way, there are lots to see and do in Medellín at night, but definitely some tips you may want to keep in mind.

• Walking around at night: If you are in Provenza, it's safe to walk around at night. But if you are going between places, absolutely hop in an uber or 3rd party app. My rule of thumb is, if it is going to take longer than 10 minutes to get to, we usually take a car.

• Drinking at bars and clubs: make sure you see people opening your drinks or making your drinks and never accept already opened drinks from a stranger. This really only applies to late at night. Don't take this that when you are at a bar that has service or a restaurant, that you need to see them pour your drinks, it's really only for bars or clubs where you go an order from the bar!

• Drugs are not allowed here: so if anyone offers you some, do not accept.

• Sex Tourism is not allowed here: If anyone offers you anything, do not accept. There is a problem with underage sex tourism here and if caught can result in significant consequences and many years in prison.
