Elounda is a seaside village 11 km from Agios Nikolaos on the north coast of eastern Crete. It is surrounded by smaller villages, mountains, beaches and bays. Once home to the ancient Greek city of Olous and later occupied by the Venetians, Elounda offers a mix of history and modern luxury.

Elounda has gained a reputation as a luxury travel destination, attracting celebrities and high profile visitors. The town is home to some of Greece's 5 star resorts and boutique hotels, offering private villas, infinity pools, and world class spa treatments. It can be busy in summer. You'll find plenty of resorts, hotels and rooms to chose from.

Elounda sits on one of the pretiest and most emmaculate bays in Creten, and behind the Kolokitha peninsula and spinalonga island.

The town is centred around a main square where you will find the taxi rank and the bus stop (to Agios Nikolaos). Elounda doesn't have sany beaches. There is a small beach by the harbor. A few of the big hotels have sunbeds that you can rent but most of the coast is rocky. You have plenty of great places to eat. For a true local experience you should go to the seafront tavernas.
