The one we're going to keep a secret... I think "hidden gem" gets overused on here, especially as they usually aren't hidden at all. But I really think this walk is deserving of it (its one of my favourites for when I don't want to see another soul aka school holidays 🤣)

I have done this walk four or five times now and never seen anyone else on any part of the trail. So if you're looking for a peaceful and steady river walk this one is for you (unless you're there when I am, then my kids will totally be ruining this vibe, apologies)

Starting at Owain Glyndŵr Memorial Hall and following the footpath alongside the shallow river (perfect for paddling) you will steadily climb up to an old slate mining tramway where you can explore the amazing derelict buildings that are slowly being reclaimed by nature. There's even the remains of a 30ft water wheel that powered Deeside slab mill!

You can then follow the trail up past multiple waterfalls to open moorland with fantastic views over the valley before returning back down the river to one of my favourite pubs @theberwynarms for the best pub chips ever.

Another dreamy walk, but make sure you don't tell anyone, this one's just between us!
